KCG Image Ratio - User Guide
Overview
This tool calculates image ratios from pixel dimensions and shows three outputs:
- Reduced Ratio (exact simplified ratio, such as
1920:1080 -> 16:9)
- Decimal (X / Y) (for example
1.7778)
- Closest Common Ratio with percentage difference (for example
3:4 (5.06% off))
Calculate from Width and Height
- Enter pixel width in Width (X pixels).
- Enter pixel height in Height (Y pixels).
- Click Calculate Ratio.
The result fields update immediately after calculation.
Calculate Missing Pixels from a Ratio
- Enter the ratio values in Width (X units) and Height (Y units), for example
16 and 9.
- Enter either Width (X pixels) or Height (Y pixels).
- Leave the other pixel field blank.
- Click Calculate Pixels.
The missing pixel dimension is calculated from the ratio, filled into the blank field, and the ratio results are refreshed.
Calculate from an Image File
- Click Select Image....
- Choose a supported image type (PNG, JPG/JPEG, TIFF, BMP, or WebP).
- The dimensions are filled in automatically and results are calculated.
The selected filename and dimensions are shown near the top of the window.
Copy Results to Clipboard
Click Copy Results to copy a one-line summary, for example:
242x339 -> exact 242:339, common 3:4 (5.06% off), decimal 0.7139
You can also use Ctrl+C (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+C (macOS).
Validation and Messages
- Width and height must be whole numbers greater than zero.
- For Calculate Pixels, width units and height units must also be whole numbers greater than zero.
- For Calculate Pixels, enter exactly one pixel dimension and leave the other blank.
- If input is invalid, result fields show
- and a status message explains the issue.
- If image selection is canceled, the status bar shows a cancellation message.
Exact and closest common ratios are different by design. Example: 242x339 remains exact 242:339, while the nearest common ratio may be 3:4.
